Job summary

Camden County College is seeking a Temporary Part-time Electrical Apprenticeship Instructor for the Blackwood Campus. Classes run 6pm-9pm on Mon, Tue, Wed and Thu, delivering hands-on and classroom training under an approved curriculum within the School, Community and Workforce Training Programs department.

The role requires substantial electrical trade qualifications or licenses, plus teaching experience and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to communicate clearly in writing for reports and evaluations.
  • Experience delivering classroom and laboratory instruction is preferred.
  • Licenses/certifications as required by NJ electrical trades and OSHA 10.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction aligned with the approved curriculum.
  • Develop lesson plans to support learning outcomes and workforce readiness.
  • Organize and maintain instructional materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress including grading and attendance.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback on student performance and participation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry standards, laws, and regulations and apply to instruction.
  • Communicate with staff regarding student progress and behavior.
  • Model professionalism and contribute to a positive school culture.

Position Goals
  • Career and Technical Institute Instructor for Electrical Apprenticeship will report directly to the Workforce Training and Continuing Education Program Supervisor and will deliver high-quality classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction. Instruction is provided using an approved curriculum and industry-relevant training materials to prepare students for advancement within the Electrical industry.

Job Description
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction aligned with the approved curriculum on a daily basis.
  • Develop lesson plans that support student learning outcomes and workforce readiness.
  • Organize and maintain instructional materials, tools, equipment, and supply inventories.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, including grading and attendance tracking.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and constructive feedback on student performance, behavior and participations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable industry standards, laws, regulations, and compliance requirements, and integrate this knowledge into daily instruction.
  • Communicate effectively with school staff regarding student behavior and instructional progress.
  • Model professionalism, reliability, and respect to contribute to a positive school culture.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in the field.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Proficient written communication skills including the ability to prepare reports, complete student evaluations and document student progress.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for classroom instruction and student engagement.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Field-related license/certification including, but not limited to, OSHA 10 certification.
  • New Jersey Licensed Electrician license, New Jersey Electrical Contractor license, or successful completion of a registered electrical apprenticeship (including a union apprenticeship) is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • This position requires mobility throughout the campus.
  • Dexterity in working with computers is mandatory.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while teaching in classroom and laboratory settings.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move electrical-related equipment or training materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate hand tools, power tools and training equipment.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb and reach when demonstrating equipment installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
