Job summary

Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of New York, seeks a Temporary Migration Counselor to support immigration services under attorney supervision. Primary duties include intake interviews, case preparation, and presenting information on immigration issues across CCCS sites and remote locations.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and immigration experience, with travel across the Archdiocese. Salary ranges from $30.21 to $35.71 per hour for a 35-hour work week, non-exempt, with full-time hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent professional training.
• Previous experience in immigration law and procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake interviews to prescreen eligibility for immigration relief and benefits at CCCS sites and remotely.
• Provide application assistance at scheduled one-on-one appointments at CCCS sites and remotely.
• Prepare, review, submit, and follow-up on applications and motions in immigration matters (asylum, SIJS, adjustment, EAD, etc.).
• Research law and investigate facts to determine possible courses of legal action.
• Assist clients to obtain documents, fill forms, and follow up via phone, mail, and email.
• Prepare referrals to other legal service providers and track case status with partners.
• Provide referrals for wraparound services (health, housing, education).
• Create and maintain physical/electronic files and manage correspondence with clients and agencies.
• Manage data entry in internal/external systems and help generate reports.
• Prepare for and conduct presentations, workshops, and outreach events (in-person or remote).
• Maintain and report required statistical data.
