Clemson University in Clemson, SC, is seeking a temporary administrative staff member to support the Department of Food, Nutrition, and Packaging Sciences. The role emphasizes executive assistance to the Department Chair, calendar management, meeting coordination, and liaison with university administration.
The position also covers personnel and payroll coordination, committee support, graduate program administration, and day-to-day office operations, including Concur vehicle reservations and
Plans, coordinates and/or performs complex administrative or business management activities of a state agency or major component of a state agency.
35% - Provide executive assistance to the Department Chair in the Department of Food, Nutrition, and Packaging Sciences. Manage scheduling all appointments for the Department Chair. Coordinate meetings, record minutes, and distribute reports. Serve as the administrative liaison between Department Chair and administration.
35% - Coordinate and manage department personnel and payroll ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. Manage and organize documentation for position requests, new hire offers, personnel and payroll changes, and terminations. Maintain confidential personnel files.
15% - Provide administrative support to departmental committees. Ensure committees are functioning in accordance with departmental bylaws and faculty manual. Manage a wide-range of administrative duties for the graduate program. Serve as a resource person for the graduate coordinator and Graduate School. Manage applications and review process in Slate.
15% - Manage the main office and daily operations within the department. Coordinate vehicle reservations through Concur, process FM&O and telecommunications work orders, and key requests. Allocate and manage office space for graduate students. Serve as a resource on policies and procedures. Maintain files to comply with Records Management guidelines. Maintain a P-card and receipt revenue received. Serve as backup for Student Services Coordinator. Oversee office assistant (student) and coordinate workload.

A high school diploma and relevant experience in business management, public administration or administrative services. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for required work experience.
Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations.

No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
