Job summary

Jobot is seeking an Accounting Specialist for a ~6 month, on‑site role in Houston, TX. The position supports day‑to‑day accounting operations in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment and offers a path to permanent placement based on performance.

The role requires 2+ years in accounting (AP/AR or finance support), ERP experience, and solid Excel skills. Distribution/logistics background is a plus, with a degree in Accounting/Finance preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in accounting, AP/AR, or a related finance support role.
• Experience in distribution, logistics, wholesale, or another high‑transaction environment preferred.
• Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and the month‑end close process.
• Proficiency with an ERP or accounting system (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
• Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, reconciliations).
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow‑through.
• Comfortable managing competing deadlines in a fast‑moving environment.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, but equivalent experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable, including invoice entry, coding, three‑way matching, and vendor payment runs.
• Support accounts receivable by preparing customer invoices, applying cash receipts, and following up on past‑due balances.
• Reconcile vendor and customer accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Assist with month‑end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accrual support.
• Maintain accurate records in the company’s ERP/accounting system.
• Review and process employee expense reports and corporate card transactions.
• Respond to vendor, customer, and internal inquiries on billing and payment status.
• Assist with audit preparation, sales tax support, and other ad hoc projects as needed.
