Job summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a reliable Assistant Committee Clerk for the 2027 General Assembly session. Based in the General Assembly Building, you will support Senate committees with administrative and logistical tasks and assist the public using the Legislative Information System (LIS).

This temporary, non-benefited position runs January 11, 2027 through February 23, 2027 and requires a four-year degree, ability to multitask, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Ability to multitask and work with committee members, staff and the public in a demanding customer service environment.
• Proficiency with current technology; ability to lift and carry 30 pounds.
• Completion of a four-year undergraduate degree is required.
• Applicants must pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite administrative and logistical support to Senate standing committees and subcommittees.
