  • Inventory materials and create spreadsheets for management.
  • Provide quality patron service and assistance to FIU community, especially Law School students/faculty.

Job Summary
  • Assist in opening and closing of the library. Student will be asked to work schedules based on operating hours of FIU Law Library available at https://library.law.fiu.edu/details. FIU has extended operating hours on nights and weekends.
  • Shelve library materials. Shift books. Perform shelf reading. Search for missing books. Assists Ill, ICL and Document Delivery.
  • Check library materials in and out using the Integrated library System (ALMA), answer directional questions, refer reference questions to reference librarians, monitor patrons to enforce library policies, and refer technology problems to the Law School IT dept.
  • Check in library material arrivals and deliveries, including creating call number labels, stamping receiving dates, and unpacking shipments.
  • Data entry to maintain accurate library cataloging information.
  • Make photocopies. Replace cartridge and fill paper in library printers. Contact appropriate departments for facility issues or inoperative machines.
  • Monitor and count library patrons in the library and maintain cleanliness of common seating areas.
  • Answer circulation and law library related questions via phone and front desk services.
  • Coordinate with Library Manager, Office Manager, and FIU Facilities to prepare Law library
  • Assist Library Manager, Office Manager, and Assistant Dean of Information Services with administrative and executive projects and tasks.
  • Refer technology problems to the Law School IT dept.
  • Process materials using integrated library system as assigned and directed by law librarian or senior library specialists. Includes all aspects of processing from receiving, cataloging serials, processing new items.
  • Inventory materials and create spreadsheets for management.
  • Data entry to maintain accurate library cataloging information.
  • Provide quality patron service and assistance to the greater FIU community, with special attention to the services provided to College of Law students, faculty, and staff
  • Other assigned tasks related to students or faculty services, as needed.
