Job summary

The State of Wyoming's WYDOT in Casper is seeking a part-time maintenance aide to support mechanics in preventive maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty vehicles, including diesel and gasoline engines. You will read technical manuals and assist with safety inspections and basic fabrication tasks.

This temporary, open-until-filled position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work around heavy equipment, and maintain an organized shop environment on site in Casper.

Qualifications

• Experience in automotive maintenance and repair preferred.
• Knowledge of automotive maintenance methods.
• Knowledge of diagnostic tools and electronic principles.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, drive trains and related components.
• Familiarity with safety procedures and policies.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preventive maintenance and repairs on automotive/heavy equipment.
• Assists in safety inspections on automotive components and heavy equipment.
• Reads and interprets technical manuals to diagnose and correct problems.
• Rigs and fabricates new equipment to district standards.
• Creates repair orders.
• Responsible for the inventory of the shop, equipment, and supplies.
• Cleans and organizes the shop, tools, and supplies.
• Assists in designing and fabricating parts for tractors and machinery.
