Job summary

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) in Casper is seeking a temporary part-time Equipment Mechanic Assistant to support heavy-duty vehicle maintenance. You will assist in diesel and gasoline engine overhauls, brakes, steering, transmission, and hydraulic repairs under direct supervision.

Preference given to applicants with prior automotive maintenance experience. This role requires reading manuals, using diagnostic tools, and maintaining shop inventory in a dynamic work environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in automotive maintenance and repair preferred.
• Ability to read technical manuals and diagnose problems.
• Familiarity with safety and shop procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preventive maintenance and repairs on automotive/heavy equipment.
• Assist in safety inspections on automotive components and heavy equipment vehicles.
• Read and interpret technical manuals to diagnose problems.
• Fabricate parts for tractors, mowers and machinery for specialized applications.
• Maintain inventory of shop, equipment and supplies.
