Job summary

The Arab-American Family Support Center (AAFSC) in Brooklyn seeks a Temporary Anti-Violence Program Case Manager to provide crisis intervention, safety planning and case management at the Family Justice Center. You will assess risk, advocate for survivors, and coordinate services across partners in a trauma‑informed setting.

This maternity leave coverage runs about six months with potential to transition to permanent status depending on funding.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS/BSW required in human service or a related field.
  • Fluency in Spanish or Arabic preferred; reading and writing proficiency is a plus.
  • Relevant work experience with survivors of domestic violence, trafficking, immigrants or refugees preferred.
  • Counseling, community organizing, and/or group work experience preferred, with understanding of trauma.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural competence with Arab, Middle Eastern, North African, Muslim and/or South Asian communities.
  • U.S. work authorization required.
  • Background check, fingerprinting and State Central Registry clearance may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake to assess risk and service needs.
  • Provide ongoing safety planning and survivor-centered case management.
  • Engage in crisis intervention coordinating with law enforcement and hospitals.
  • Provide information and advocacy on orders, court accompaniment, and support.
  • Assist with obtaining public benefits, housing/shelter applications, and other entitlements.
  • Maintain thorough case files and data for funder reports.
  • Attend trainings and meetings to stay updated on resources.
