Job summary

UNC Charlotte is hiring a Temp Academic Advisor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department. The advisor will provide academic guidance to transfer and upper-level students, review degree progress, assist with new student orientation, and support students facing academic challenges.

This temporary part-time role (20 hours per week) offers a pay rate of $25 - $27 per hour for a 6-month assignment under the College of Engineering, with autonomous work within a team-oriented office.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in academic advising, student services, higher education, engineering or related field.
  • Experience in higher education student services preferred (2+ years).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Banner, Banner Self Service, Canvas and DegreeWorks is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic advising to transfer and upper-level Civil and Environmental Engineering students.
  • Review degree progress and transfer credits; develop advising plans.
  • Submit academic petitions and assist with new student orientation.
  • Advise on major course requirements and academic policies.
  • Track students with Early Alerts or midterm warnings to support success.
  • Monitor students on academic probation and provide interventions.

UNC Charlotte is hiring a Temp Academic Advisor for the Civil and Environmental Engineering department.   • Provide academic advising to second- through senior-year students, including transfers and first-time-in-college matriculated students, majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering.

  • Submit academic petitions and assist with new student orientation.
  • Advise on major course requirements, academic policies and resources.
  • Track and support students with multiple Early Alerts or midterm warnings to foster academic success.
  • Monitor students on academic probation and provide intervention strategies.
  • Required master's degree in academic advising, student services, higher education, engineering, or a related field.
  • Preferred 2+ years of higher education student services experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint; knowledge of BANNER, Banner Self Service, Canvas, and DegreeWorks is a plus.
