Bon Secours Mercy Health in Newport News, VA seeks a Progressive Care (Step down) Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver high-quality nursing care. The role acts as a bridge between Med-Surg and ICU units, prioritizing patient needs and developing care plans to improve outcomes.

Responsibilities include collaborating with the care team, conducting assessments, coordinating care, and ensuring a safe environment. Requires RN license and 1 year of RN experience; BSN preferred and ACLS/BLS as applicable.

Qualifications

• 1 year of RN experience (required).
• 6 months RN experience in an acute care hospital setting (preferred).
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred, not required).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• BLS required; ACLS preferred at hire and ACLS within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments and create a plan of care.
• Administer medications safely per policy and state practice.
• Serve as patient safety advocate and participate in quality improvement.
• Coordinate care across hospital departments and communicate with care teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
