Job summary

The Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) in Delaware seeks a Telecommunications/Network Technologist Supervisor to lead the Telecom unit's on‑premises and cloud services, manage projects, certificate administration, scripting, and disaster recovery efforts.

You will supervise network design, implement data networks, oversee SAN/server operations, and guide staff while coordinating with management to plan capacity, redundancy, and modernization.

Qualifications

• Three years experience in planning, designing and installing data networks for telecommunication needs.
• Six months experience in developing strategic business plans for the expansion and installation of data network and telecommunications infrastructure including an evaluation of the feasibility, compatibility and cost effectiveness.
• Knowledge of information technology project management which includes planning, scheduling, staffing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on status of IT projects.
• Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design and implement new/upgraded data networks for telecommunications needs.
• Oversee installation and maintenance of switch rooms, networks, interface and multiplexing equipment.
• Develop tactical and strategic plans for data networks to meet business needs.
• Research and evaluate emerging technologies and network designs.
