Job summary

Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) in Delaware seeks a Telecommunications/Network Technologist Supervisor to oversee Azure/Cloud services, project management, engineering, and the implementation of next-gen technologies within the Infrastructure Engineering unit.

The role includes leading SDLC processes across the Information Resource Management unit, mentoring staff, and coordinating network upgrade projects from conception to production.

Qualifications

• Three years experience in planning, designing and installing data networks for telecommunication needs such as bandwidth, multiple protocols, transmission lines, interface and multiplexing equipment, port connections, control packets and other equipment.
• Six months experience in developing strategic business plans for the expansion and installation of data network and telecommunications infrastructure including an evaluation of the feasibility, compatibility and cost effectiveness.
• Knowledge of information technology project management which includes planning, scheduling, staffing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on status of IT projects
• Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees.

Responsibilities

• Plans, designs and implements new/upgraded data networks including determination of telecommunications needs and bandwidth requirements.
• Projects future business needs and develops strategic plans for network expansion and installation.
• Researches and evaluates emerging technologies for applicability to business demands and security considerations.
• Plans and implements redundancy and migration methodologies for next generation network technologies.
• Oversees and coordinates the work of technical staff in absence of supervision or on a project basis.
