Job summary

DLR Group is seeking a Telecommunications Designer to design and document telecom cabling infrastructure from schematic design through construction administration across diverse building types. You will create detailed telecom plans and collaborate with in‑house architects, engineers, and staff.

The role requires RCDD certification, 5+ years in telecom design, BIM/AutoCAD proficiency, and travel to job sites as needed. DLR Group offers a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible work model.

Qualifications

• RCDD certification through BICSI is required.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in the Evaluation/Design of Telecommunications Cabling Infrastructure Systems.
• Experience with Building Construction documents.
• Experience with BIM (Autodesk Revit) and AutoCAD workflows.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work within an active, multi-disciplined environment and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to travel for meetings, site visits and project interviews.
• Proficiency with a PDF mark-up tool (Bluebeam).

Responsibilities

• Develop telecommunications cabling infrastructure designs from concept through construction.
• Prepare telecom cabling infrastructure plans and specifications.
• Prepare detailed telecom systems reports and narratives.
• Coordinate telecom design requirements with architecture, structure, mechanical, electrical, and other disciplines.
• Assist in developing project objectives, goals, and documentation policies.
• Meet with client IT staff to determine project requirements and goals.
