Job summary

DLR Group seeks a Telecommunications Designer to design and document telecommunications cabling infrastructure from schematic to construction administration for a variety of building types. You will collaborate with in‑house architects, engineers, and IT staff to deliver coordinated telecom plans and reports.

The role requires an RCDD credential, 5+ years of experience, BIM/Revit and AutoCAD proficiency, and travel for site visits and meetings.

Qualifications

• Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the Evaluation/Design of Telecommunications Cabling Infrastructure Systems.
• Experience with Building Construction documents.
• Experience with BIM (Autodesk Revit) and AutoCAD workflow.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work within an active, multi-disciplined environment and meet deadlines for multiple projects.
• Ability to design and detail telecommunications plans and specifications with in-house teams.
• Availability to travel for job meetings, site visits and interviews.
• Proficiency with a PDF mark-up tool (Bluebeam).

Responsibilities

• Develop telecommunications cabling infrastructure designs from concept through completion of construction.
• Prepare telecom cabling infrastructure plans and specifications.
• Prepare detailed telecom systems reports and narratives.
• Coordinate Telecom design requirements with architecture, structure, mechanical, electrical, and other disciplines.
• Meet with client’s IT staff to determine project requirements and goals.
• Assist in developing project objectives, goals, and documentation policies.
