Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking a Casework Associate I (S) in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing division to serve Wilmington, NC, and surrounding areas. The role focuses on promoting the Equipment Distribution Service and Telecommunications Resources Program while assisting Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing individuals.

Based in Wilmington, the position covers a 12-county region with extensive travel, evening events, and community outreach.

Qualifications

Knowledge of installing and troubleshooting telecommunications equipment and hearing loss assistive technology.
Ability to train individuals on telecommunications equipment use.
Experience supporting Deaf, DeafBlind or hard of hearing individuals' needs.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

Provide consultation services for telecommunications access and assistive technology.
Deliver presentations at information sessions across the 12-county region.
Conduct telephone demonstrations and home-visit consultations.
Provide technical assistance related to telecommunications equipment.
Public outreach to agencies and businesses about EDS and TRP.
Maintain Regional Center demo and loaner equipment.
Attend job fairs and health fairs; some after-hours work may be required.
Extensive travel within the 12-county region and occasionally beyond.
