Job summary

MasTec Communications Group in Winston-Salem, NC seeks an HVAC/Telecom Technician to perform field service maintenance, remedial and emergency repair on telecom and data center cooling systems. You will diagnose, repair, and install components across cell towers and shelters, ensuring reliability and uptime.

This role requires travel, on-call availability, and the ability to read schematics with EPA 608 certification. Training is provided and a company vehicle is included.

Qualifications

• Underground CEV experience preferred.
• Able to read electrical ladder schematics.
• Basic plumbing knowledge of sump pumps.
• Knowledge of pumps, dry coolers, and cooling towers.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• HVAC codes knowledge and proper application.
• Strong communication via email and verbally.
• Willingness to travel on weekdays and weekends as needed.
• EPA 608 refrigerant certification (types 1, 2, 3).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and internet tools.
• Understanding of telecommunications and data processing operations.
• Compliance with FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations.
• Construction experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cooling systems on cell tower units; diagnose, troubleshoot, repair or install components.
• Perform maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipment.
• Replace or install forced air HVAC systems and hydronic systems.
• Install or replace duct systems in telecom shelters.
• Test electrical circuits, pipe joints for leaks; verify wiring per diagrams.
• Troubleshoot low-voltage control systems.
• Carry out safety and technical training; follow safe work practices.
• Travel on-site and be on call as needed.
