Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking an HVAC/Telecom Technician to perform field service maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on telecommunication and data-center cooling systems. You will work on cell towers and shelters with a focus on HVAC equipment and safe, compliant operation.

The role requires reading electrical ladder schematics, basic plumbing for sump pumps, and knowledge of pumps, dry coolers, and cooling towers. Travel and on-call work are common.

Qualifications

• Experience with underground CEV preferred.
• Able to read and understand electrical ladder schematics.
• Basic plumbing knowledge of sump pumps.
• Knowledge of pumps, dry coolers, and cooling towers.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Knowledge of HVAC codes and their proper application.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and by email.
• Willingness to be on call and travel extensively for work.

Responsibilities

• Maintain commercial cooling systems on cell tower cooling units (diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, or installing and replacing components).
• Perform maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipment.
• Replace or install forced air heating and air conditioning systems.
• Install or replace duct systems in telecommunication shelters.
• Test electrical circuits and components for continuity.
• Layout and connect wiring per diagrams; test low-voltage controls.
• Understand underground gas monitoring systems (Sierra 2400/2450, Quest).
• Complete safety and technical training; maintain safe work practices.
