What You’ll Do:

This position involves designing, installing, configuring, and analyzing the performance of AEP's Wireless/Distribution telecommunications networks and systems. Requires an intermediate understanding of communications technologies and the ability to perform routine tasks independently. Performs project management duties on routine assignments and analyzes, troubleshoots, and resolves network issues of moderate complexity.

Job Description

Note: This is an onsite position reporting to New Albany, OH.

What We’re Looking For:

• Understand and follow company policies, practices, procedures, standards, and rules, complying with external regulations.
• Coordinate and monitor work activities for projects using approved tools and applications.
• Prepare cost estimates for routine engineering assignments following established guidelines.
• Document project work per guidelines.
• Learn AEP's organizational structure and specific roles within the unit.
• Adhere to budgeting and approval processes during planning and projects.
• Perform routine engineering activities with minimal supervision.
• Apply basic techniques to analyze and resolve technical problems.
• Use economic analysis techniques in project development and approval.
• Demonstrate knowledge of AEP networks, components, and facilities for efficient responses.
• Follow standard workflows for routine projects.

What You’ll Get:

Telecom Consultant (SG-007): $85,081 - $106,354

• Bachelor's in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field, or
• Associate's degree with 2 years relevant experience, or
• HS diploma/GED with 4 years relevant experience.

Experience: 2 years relevant work experience.

Telecom Consultant Sr (SG-008):

$96,110 - $124,940

• Bachelor's in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field, or
• Associate's degree with 2 years relevant experience, or
• HS diploma/GED with 4 years relevant experience.

Experience: 5 years relevant work experience.

Additional Preferences (not required but helpful):

• RF system engineering and deployment experience, including various wireless and network technologies.
• Experience designing and engineering wireless networks.
• Proficiency with RF propagation modeling software.
• Knowledge of network/IP-based devices and systems.
• Teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Ability to procure parts and manage multiple projects.
• Proficient PC skills: databases, graphics, spreadsheets, word processing, email.

Benefits & Compensation

Competitive salary, comprehensive benefits package, and additional perks. Compensation Grade: SP20-007. Range: $85,081 - $106,352.50 USD.

The physical demand level is Sedentary: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, mostly sitting, with occasional walking or standing.
