Job summary

Alaska Communications is seeking an experienced Telecom Assistant Controller to support the Controller in overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and financial analysis for a telecom provider. You’ll manage telecom assets, IRUs, fiber arrangements, and capital projects while ensuring GAAP and SOX compliance.

The role involves leading monthly closes, reviewing entries, and supporting audits, with responsibility for asset capitalization,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
• Eight years progressive accounting experience with three years in a supervisory role.
• Telecommunications industry experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and support schedules.
• Assist GAAP financial statements and management reporting packages.
• Support external and regulatory audits and continuous SOX compliance.
• Coordinate intercompany accounting and consolidation activities.
