Job summary

Alaska Communications is seeking a Telecom Assistant Controller to support the Controller in overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and financial analysis for a telecommunications organization.

The role focuses on telecom-specific transactions, including network assets, IRUs, dark fiber arrangements, leases and revenue recognition, while ensuring GAAP and SOX compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum eight years of progressive accounting experience; three years in supervision.
• Telecom industry experience and SOX/compliance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules.
• Prepare GAAP financial statements and management reporting packages.
• Support external and regulatory audits.
• Oversee telecom accounting including IRUs, assets, leases, and related capitalization.
