Job summary

Alaska Communications seeks an experienced Telecom Assistant Controller to support the Controller in overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and financial analysis for a telecommunications organization. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Eight years of progressive accounting experience, with three years in a supervisory role.
• Telecommunications industry experience preferred and SOX/compliance knowledge.
• Experience with external audits and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and support schedules.
• Prepare GAAP financial statements and management reporting packages.
• Support external and regulatory audits.
• Coordinate consolidation activities and intercompany accounting.
• Oversee accounting for telecom assets, IRUs, dark fiber, and network projects.
• Ensure proper capitalization, depreciation, and asset accounting.
• Analyze revenue recognition under ASC 606 and related standards.
• Assist with SOX controls, policy maintenance, and risk remediation.
• Provide financial analysis for strategic projects and capital investments.
• Develop management reporting and KPI dashboards.
• Supervise accounting staff and drive continuous process improvements.
