Job summary

The Birmingham Board of Education is seeking a Social Studies Teacher to join our instructional team across multiple Birmingham-area locations. This 9‑month position supports core values and a standards-based educational program for the assigned grade level and subject area.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• A valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate.
• Must meet Every Student Succeed Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements or a willingness to meet the requirements.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technology to plan and provide instruction and facilitate student learning.
• Model appropriate and innovative use of technology for students
• Facilitate and monitor the integration of technology in the classroom
• Provide modifications for students with special needs, including exceptional education students and students with limited English proficiency
• Select, develop, modify and/or adapt materials and resources which support learning objectives and address students' varying learning styles and backgrounds
• Establish routines and uses appropriate behavior management procedures
