Job summary

The Birmingham Board of Education is seeking a Social Studies Teacher to provide an engaging learning environment across multiple locations for a 9-month school calendar. This position reports to the Principal and requires modern instructional practices supported by technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate.
• Must meet ESSA federal and state requirements or a willingness to meet the requirements.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technology to plan and deliver instruction and facilitate learning.
• Model innovative uses of technology in the classroom.
• Provide modifications for students with special needs, including exceptional education students and students with limited English proficiency.
• Select, develop, modify and adapt materials to support learning objectives and diverse backgrounds.
• Establish routines and implement effective behavior management procedures.
• Participate in administration of local and state testing and use data for planning and evaluation.
• Communicate high learning expectations and learning targets aligned to real-world experiences.
