Qualifications

• Four years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling.
• Five years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting.
• Two years of experience as a licensed Journeyman in the specialized trade.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, air handlers, rooftop units, VAVs, pumps, and controls.
• Conduct daily inspections of mechanical equipment and complete corrective maintenance to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
• Monitor and adjust building automation systems (BAS) to maintain temperature, humidity, pressure relationships, and energy performance.
• Lead and coordinate HVAC preventive maintenance programs and contractor activities while ensuring safety and regulatory standards.
• Maintain documentation of inspections, repairs, work orders, equipment performance, and regulatory requirements, and train junior technicians.

Education

Four years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling

Two years of Journeyman licensed experience (electrical or related trade)

Requirement: Master HVAC License required. Substanial prior professional experience in a similar senior maintenance role.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, air handlers, rooftop units, VAVs, pumps, and associated controls.
• Conduct daily inspections of mechanical equipment, identify operational deficiencies, and complete corrective maintenance to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
• Monitor and adjust building automation systems (BAS) to maintain proper temperature, humidity, pressure relationships, and energy performance.
• Lead and coordinate HVAC preventive maintenance programs, and contractor activities while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, repairs, work orders, equipment performance, and regulatory requirements, while providing technical guidance and training to junior technicians.

Pay Range: $33.00 per hour to $39.00 per hour.

Job Summary

Performs a variety of skilled maintenance duties related to facility engineering and maintenance functions, while providing field leadership, ensuring quality assurance, supporting training efforts, and managing escalations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in making decisions on all normal and complex repairs; reports major problems to the maintenance supervisor and foreman.
• Constructs, finishes, installs, maintains and repairs electrical and mechanical systems, or the facilities of any related systems, using power and hand tools and other necessary equipment.
• Cleans, lubricates, services, repairs or diagnoses malfunction of HVAC, electrical and mechanical building systems, sterilizers, sprinkler and standpipe systems, transport systems, electronic signaling systems, fire alarm systems and similar specialty equipment items with appropriate training, certification skills and licensing requirements as needed.
• Supervises and leads a group of workers on a project.
• Reads, comprehends and transmits complicated detailed instructions verbally and in writing.
• Teaches advanced maintenance skills to other members of the department.
• Reviews work of outside vendors and licensed maintenance workers; makes punch lists.
• Reports on and repairs discrepancies as assigned.
• Analyzes and corrects complex building system problems, alone or as part of a team.
• Maintains logs, performs rounds and completes work orders, tests and inspections.
• Makes recommendations for modification or improvement of preventive maintenance systems.
• Serves as a member of facility emergency response team.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Four years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling.
• Five years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline.
• Two years of experience as a licensed Journeyman in the specialized trade.

Must have one of the following

• Master license in one trade or two of the following Journeyman Electrical License or Registered ACR Technician with EPA certification in Refrigerant, or a Journeyman Plumber License, etc.
• Valid driver’s license.
