Crothall Healthcare is seeking a Senior HVAC Technician for MedStar Washington Hospital Center on 1st shift. You will service and repair HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems, document tasks, and support project work in a hospital environment.

The role requires HVAC certification, ability to lift 50 pounds, and strong communication. Shift is 7:00 am–3:30 pm, Monday–Friday, with occasional weekends and on‑site work.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Update work statuses and document tasks in the system.
• Diagnose, service, repair HVAC and related building systems.
• Assist in planning repairs, manage timelines, and coordinate with staff.
• Construct and maintain electrical & mechanical systems and equipment.
• Review vendor projects and complete punch lists.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections.
• Respond to emergencies and perform repairs as needed.
• Maintain clean, safe shops and equipment areas.

Senior HVAC Technician - MedStar Washington Hospital Center - 1st Shift

Salary: $45 to $55 per hour

The Senior HVAC Technician performs a variety of skilled maintenance duties related to the facilities engineering and maintenance departments. This is a 1st shift 7am to 3:30pm M-F schedule with occasional weekends.

Responsibilities

• Updates work statuses and documents tasks completed in the Computer Maintenance Management System using a mobile device or computer.
• Helps settle staff, material needs, and timelines for jobs and projects.
• Cleans, lubricates, services, repairs, and diagnoses malfunction of HVAC, electrical and mechanical building systems, sterilizers, food service equipment, transport systems, and similar plant and specialty equipment items
• Assists in making decisions on repairs and reports major problems to the Manger as appropriate.
• Constructs, finishes, installs, maintains, and repairs electrical and mechanical systems, or the facilities of any related systems, using power & hand tools and other vital equipment.
• Reviews outside vendor projects and makes punch lists.
• Ice/Water Machine preventative maintenance and cleaning.
• Analyzes and corrects building system problems and electro/mechanical problems related to utilities.
• Supports project management activity as needed.
• Responds to emergency problems in the facility and makes emergency repairs as needed.
• Maintains logs, performs rounds, and completes P.M. work orders, tests, and inspections.
• Makes recommendations for modification or improvement of preventive maintenance systems.
• Maintains shops and mechanical areas in a clean and safe manner.
• Preforms other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Maintenance Technician in an engineering or maintenance subject area.
• HVAC certification or license required.
• Experience working with blueprints and schematics.
• A general understanding of electro‑mechanical equipment.
• Basic understanding and ability to apply hand‑operated construction equipment.
• Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds and kneel/bend/stoop and perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time.
• Organized and detailed on work and documentation
• Work in a team environment when requested
• Independent work as needed
• Good communication skills
• Healthcare experience preferred
