Job summary

TTUHSC Amarillo Clements Unit is seeking a Technician III- Laboratory Services to coordinate daily laboratory activities, supervise phlebotomy staff, and provide direct patient lab services. You will ensure regulatory compliance and maintain supplies and equipment in accordance with policies and standards.

The role requires high school or equivalent with four years' experience; phlebotomy certification is preferred.

  • Phlebotomy Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise phlebotomy staff.
  • Schedule patients for laboratory services and EKG.
  • Collect various specimens, including fasting CMPs.
  • Provide HIV post counseling and pre-release testing.
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness and ACA-compliant standards.
  • Maintain licensing/credentials and ensure regulatory compliance.

Position Description

Performs advanced technical, administrative, and supervisorylaboratory duties in support of patient care and laboratoryoperations. The Technician III is responsible for coordinatingdaily laboratory activities, supervising phlebotomy staff,providing direct patient laboratory services, maintainingregulatory and accreditation compliance, and ensuring theavailability and proper functioning of laboratory supplies andequipment. Work is performed with general direction usingestablished policies, procedures, and professional standards, withresponsibility for exercising sound judgment and ensuring accurate,timely, and confidential laboratory services.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Supervise phlebotomy staff.
  • Schedule patients for laboratory services and EKG.
  • Collect various specimens, with CMP's being fasting. Givingcritical lab values or cultures to ordering physician.
  • Provide HIV post counseling for CID department and complete HIVpre-release testing.
  • Works with phlebotomist to maintain laboratory cleanliness inaccordance with ACA standards
  • Maintains laboratory licensing and credentials to ensure thelab is in compliance with operating standards as stated withinpolicy.
  • Maintains supplies, and lab equipment, & reportingnon-functioning equipment to proper person as found.
