Job Description

Under the direction of the Chief Technologist, the CT Technician performs sophisticated diagnostic imaging studies at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. They execute a variety of technical procedures with independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative, applying prescribed ionizing radiation for imaging diagnosis. The technician assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures, provides leadership for staff technologists, assigns work, and manages traffic control in the technical area.

Responsibilities
  1. Patient and Room Preparation: Enter patient data into Epic and other systems, position the patient, obtain scout films, and set up monitors, foot switches, table controls, and lighting.
  2. Obtain images: Set exposure factors and operate imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
  3. Direct involvement during procedures: Assist radiologists with sterile equipment, monitor procedures, and operate injectors as needed.
  4. Workflow adherence: Track exams in IDXRad, verify images in PACS for accuracy.
  5. Image processing: Photograph, label, process, and display images for interpretation.
  6. Record keeping: Maintain records of films, fluoro time, injections, etc.
  7. Safety and training: Follow radiation safety rules, train staff and students, maintain cleanliness.
  8. Additional duties: Perform as a 5T/4T technologist, establish vascular access, administer contrast, monitor patient risk, and review blood work.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of formal radiologic technology training in CT, ARRT certification, NY State license & injection certification.
  • Proficiency with imaging systems, PACS, Epic, and related equipment.
  • Good verbal communication skills, spatial perception, knowledge of angiographic and interventional procedures, and training in managing vulnerable patient populations.
