Job summary

Ziegler CAT in Columbus, MN is seeking a Rental Diesel Technician for 2nd shift to service a range of Ziegler-owned rental equipment and non-CAT rentals. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing equipment, documenting work orders, and maintaining safety practices.

Candidates should have a 2-year diesel technology credential or a GED with experience, plus strong mechanical and communication skills. Compensation ranges from $27.00 to $45.00 per hour, with a comprehensive benefits package

Qualifications

• 2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or related field; or High school diploma/GED and 2 years of comparable shop mechanic experience.
• 2+ years of relevant diesel engine/equipment repair experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of engines, hydraulics, driveline, electrical/electronics, diesel exhaust systems, and fuel systems; CAT experience is a plus but not required.
• Ability to write and communicate effectively and interact with supervisors, customers and team members.
• Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems.
• Own mechanic tool set.
• Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Safety sensitive role requiring pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair equipment including skid steers, compact wheel loaders, mini excavators, aerial lifts, tele-handlers, CUVs and other light/medium construction equipment.
• Document work orders in a timely and complete manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Work safely at all times following company policies and standards.
• Collaborate with other technicians and assist as needed with troubleshooting repairs.
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills and grow product knowledge.
