Job summary

Ziegler CAT is hiring a Rental Diesel Technician to service a range of Ziegler-owned rental compact equipment and non-CAT rentals at our Columbus location. Hours are Mon–Fri, 6:30am–3pm, with comprehensive benefits and ongoing training.

Starting wage $27.00–$45.00 per hour, dependent on experience and location. The role requires a 2-year diesel tech degree or equivalent experience and a safety-sensitive pre-employment drug test. Join a team focused on quality service and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or 2 years of comparable shop mechanic experience
• 2+ years of relevant diesel engine/equipment repair experience preferred
• Working knowledge of engines, hydraulics, driveline, electrical/electronics, diesel exhaust and fuel systems; CAT experience a plus but not required
• Ability to write and communicate effectively and interact with supervisors, customers and team members
• Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems
• Own tool set
• Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Role deemed safety sensitive requiring pre-employment drug test

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair equipment including skid steers, compact wheel loaders, mini excavators, aerial lifts, tele-handlers, and other light/medium construction equipment
• Document work orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure high customer satisfaction
• Work safely at all times following company policies, procedures and standards
• Collaborate with other technicians and assist with troubleshooting repairs
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills and product knowledge

The pay range for this position is $27.00 to $45.00

Starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, education and location. Pay range may vary by 10% depending upon the applicant’s location. Along with competitive pay, full time positions are benefits eligible which includes:

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair equipment including skid steers, compact wheel loaders, mini excavators, aerial lifts, tele-handlers, CUV's, among other light and medium construction equipment
• Document work orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
• Work safely at all times, following company policies, procedures and standards
• Work collaboratively and assist other technicians as needed regarding troubleshooting repairs
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills and grow product knowledge.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or related field; or High school diploma/GED and 2 years of comparable shop mechanic experience
• 2+ years of relevant diesel engine/equipment repair experience is preferred
• Working knowledge of engines, hydraulics, driveline, electrical/electronics, diesel exhaust systems, and fuel systems; working on Caterpillar is a plus but not required
• Ability to write and communicate effectively and interact with supervisors, customers and team members
• Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems
• Own mechanic tool set
• Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment
• This role is deemed safety sensitive and requires the ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test
