Job summary

The Planet Group in Needham, MA is seeking a results-driven engineer to support design, development, production, and testing of components. You’ll document results, prepare technical drawings, and perform reliability testing in a hands-on lab environment.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of relevant experience, strong attention to detail, and proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks/Creo) and Python/Arduino for test rigs. On-site work five days a week is required.

Job description

Duration: 3 months plus months- will extend long term need

Required Qualifications

• Engineering degree or relevant hands-on technical experience.
• Approximately 1–2 years of practical experience for recent engineering graduates, with additional experience also welcome.
• Hands-on experience gained through internships or co-ops may count toward the experience requirement.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow technical procedures.
• Experience documenting test results, recording data, and working with reports.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and modify prototypes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly for documentation and data analysis.
• Ability to work onsite in Needham, MA, five days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

• Mechanical, electrical, or other relevant engineering background.
• Experience with wiring, electrical layouts, and basic mechanical modifications.
• Experience with CAD software, such as SolidWorks or Creo.
• Familiarity with Arduino and Python for programming test rigs, motors, or related equipment.
• Previous experience in R&D laboratories, product testing, prototyping, or product development.
