Job summary

The Planet Group in Needham, MA is seeking a results-driven engineer to support design, development, production, and testing of components. You’ll document results, prepare technical drawings, and perform reliability testing in a hands-on lab environment.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of relevant experience, strong attention to detail, and proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks/Creo) and Python/Arduino for test rigs. On-site work five days a week is required.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
• 1–2 years of practical engineering experience; internships count.
• Ability to document test results and analyze data clearly.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot prototypes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office for documentation.

Responsibilities

• Support design, development, production, testing, and maintenance of components.
• Prepare detailed drawings, layouts, and documentation.
• Conduct materials testing and evaluate product performance.
• Perform maintenance, calibration, and repairs on equipment.
• Monitor and troubleshoot products under development.
• Operate instruments, testing rigs, and precision gauges.
• Test prototypes, document results, and write technical reports.
• Identify issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure quality and performance.
