Job summary

Primary Talent Partners is seeking a Technical Writer/Training Content Developer for a 12-month, on-site contract with our energy client in Charlotte, NC. The role focuses on translating complex technical information into clear, actionable content for operators and leaders.

You will create SOPs, work instructions, training guides, job aids, and visual materials while partnering with SMEs to ensure accuracy.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in technical writing, instructional content development, training development, or a related field.
• Strong written communication, editing, proofreading, and information-organizing skills.
• Experience converting technical or complex subject matter into clear instructions for end users.
• Ability to interview and collaborate with technical and operational subject matter experts.
• Experience developing SOPs, work instructions, user guides, job aids, training materials, or comparable documentation.
• Ability to interpret process flows, technical documentation, diagrams, screenshots, system information, and operational procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and consistency.
• Ability to manage multiple documents, revisions, and priorities.
• Proficiency with standard business productivity and document-authoring tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop, write, edit, and maintain technical and operational documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, process and procedure manuals, job aids, training guides, and technical references.
• Partner with subject matter experts and operators to translate workflows and procedures into clear documentation.
• Observe operational activities to document processes, decision points, system interactions, and required actions.
• Review existing procedures, system documentation, diagrams, and screenshots to update materials.
• Develop training content for onboarding, role-specific training, and system changes.
• Convert complex technical concepts into concise, audience-appropriate learning materials.
• Create visuals (screenshots, diagrams, process maps) to enhance understanding.
• Maintain revision history and assist with publishing and distribution of materials.
