Job summary

Saab is seeking a Technical Writer for our West Lafayette, IN facility, joining a team that supports the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk aircraft for the US Air Force. The role requires developing NCRs, inspection/Control plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions while upholding ISO/AS quality standards.

You will train inspectors, lead documentation practices, and collaborate across shifts to ensure high-quality products delivered on schedule. US citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• AS degree or 3 years’ related quality experience required.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operations.
• Ability to articulate technical product/process requirements for electro-mechanical assembly.
• Strong written and verbal communication; collaborative problem-solving.
• Willingness to work extended hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the local SME for technical writing and provide guidance/training for inspectors across multiple shifts.
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership.
• Identify common/repeated quality issues and establish corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
• Develop best practices for technical writing throughout the organization; maintain and update best practices as needed.
• Responsible for technical writing assignments involving NCRs, Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions.
• Develop strong working knowledge of the quality requirements as defined by customer/industry standards.
• Facilitate and develop controls/solutions to provide high-quality products to customers within schedule.
• Act as primary point of contact in non-conformance investigations and material assessments.
• Contribute to a people-first culture in alignment to Saab values, demonstrating core Company values.
