Job summary

Saab West Lafayette in Indiana is seeking a Technical Writer to join a team manufacturing the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk aircraft for the U.S. Air Force. The role includes serving as SME for technical writing, guiding inspectors, and managing NCRs, FAIs, and MRBs.

Responsibilities include developing best practices, ensuring compliance with ISO/AS standards, and delivering high-quality results on schedule. Must be a U.S.

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM discipline or 3 years’ related quality manufacturing experience.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operations.
• Ability to articulate technical product/process requirements for electro‑mechanical assembly.
• Ability to interpret and revise written documentation / work instructions for consistency.
• Strong written and verbal communication, collaborative problem solving."
• Willingness to work extended hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as local SME for technical writing and provide guidance/training for inspectors across shifts.
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership.
• Identify common/ repetitive quality issues and establish corrective actions.
• Develop best practices for technical writing and maintain updates.
• Handle NCRs, Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions.
• Develop knowledge of customer/industry quality standards.
• Provide controls/solutions to deliver high-quality products on schedule.
• Act as primary contact in non-conformance investigations and material assessments.
• Support Saab values and a people-first culture; contribute to other projects as assigned.
