Job summary

Saab in West Lafayette, IN is seeking a Technical Writer to join a team that supports manufacturing of the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk aircraft. You will act as SME for technical writing, guiding inspectors, and maintaining quality documentation across shifts.

You will develop best practices, report performance, and manage NCRs/FAIs/MRBs while ensuring compliance with customer/industry standards and delivering high-quality results on schedule.

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing or related STEM discipline is required or 3 years’ experience in manufacturing quality.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operations is required.
• Able to articulate technical product/process requirements for electro-mechanical assembly.
• Strong written and verbal communication, collaborative problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Serve as local SME for technical writing and train inspectors across shifts.
• Report writing performance and turnaround time to leadership.
• Identify recurring quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Develop best practices for technical writing and update as needed.
• Handle NCRs, Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions.

Education

AS Degree in Quality/Technical Writing or related STEM

BS degree in related STEM (preferred)

3 years’ related experience in manufacturing quality

Written and verbal communication skills

GD&T knowledge (desirable)

Tools

ISO9001/AS9100/IATF16949 knowledge
