Job summary

Saab West Lafayette, IN seeks a Technical Writer to join a team manufacturing the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk aircraft for the U.S. Air Force. The role covers creating NCRs, inspection and control plans, FAIs and MRB dispositions, with a focus on quality documentation and process improvement.

The candidate will train inspectors, track writing performance, and implement corrective actions while ensuring compliance with customer and industry standards. U.S.

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM discipline OR 3 years’ related experience in a manufacturing quality role required.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operation is required
• Ability to articulate technical product/process requirements for electro-mechanical assembly
• Interpret and revise written documentation for consistency and efficient repetition
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Collaborative problem-solving approach and self-driven to deliver high-quality results

Responsibilities

• Serve as local SME for technical writing and provide training for inspectors across shifts
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership
• Identify recurring quality issues and establish corrective actions
• Develop best practices for technical writing and update as needed
• Produce NCRs, Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions
• Understand customer/industry quality requirements
• Support high-quality product delivery within schedule
• Act as primary contact in non-conformance investigations and material assessments
• Contribute to Saab values and a people-first culture
