Job summary

ABB Inc. in New Berlin, WI, is seeking a Technical Writer to turn complex technical and manufacturing information into clear manuals, SOPs, and specifications.

This hybrid role collaborates with R&D, engineering, operations, quality, and testing to standardize documentation across products and processes. You will edit, create, and maintain user manuals, work instructions, and related product docs, ensuring accuracy and usability.

Qualifications

• Experience creating technical documentation such as manuals, publications, work instructions, SOPs, specifications, or similar materials.
• Experience gathering requirements and collaborating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts into clear, easy-to-follow documentation.
• Excellent communication skills in verbal and written English.

Responsibilities

• Create, edit, and maintain technical documentation including user manuals, work instructions, standard operating procedures, requirements, specifications, and related product documentation.
• Partner with R&D, engineering, operations, quality, testing, and other cross-functional stakeholders to gather technical information and translate complex content into clear, user-friendly documentation.
• Review and improve existing documentation to increase consistency, accuracy, usability, and standardization across products and processes.
• Coordinate document reviews and approvals, ensuring documentation stays current with product changes, operational needs, and internal standards.
