Remote Jobs is seeking a Contract Technical Writer & Content Strategist to support documentation, UX copy, and in‑app guidance for our SRM platform as a 1099 contractor.

The role blends technical writing, content strategy, and UX writing across Zendesk, Figma, and Pendo, with autonomy and collaboration with product, design, and engineering. You must be US-based; prior SaaS experience and strong writing across technical and user-facing contexts are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience spanning technical writing and content strategy in SaaS.
• Hands-on Zendesk experience creating, organizing, and maintaining help center content.
• Experience with Pendo or similar in-app guidance platforms.
• Ability to deliver end-to-end content strategy from research to execution.
• Exceptional writing skills across technical, UX, and user-facing contexts.

• Comfort with HTML and CSS; JavaScript familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain help center articles for new features in Zendesk.
• Produce release announcements and in-app messaging that translate technical changes into clear, user-ready language.
• Anticipate documentation needs by reviewing sprint plans, grooming notes, and product updates.
• Maintain and improve existing documentation by reducing redundancy, improving structure, and retiring outdated content.
• Create and manage Pendo in-app guides, tooltips, and walkthroughs that complement help center content.
• Audit existing brand voice and content across product and help center, identifying gaps and presenting recommendations.
• Translate brand voice into tone guidelines, UX writing standards, and documentation style guides.
• Define and evolve content architecture aligned with user needs and product organization.
• Build a content roadmap tied to the product roadmap and sprint cycles.
• Establish content operations including workflow, tooling, governance, and contribution guidelines.
• Use analytics and search data to measure content performance and drive iteration.
• Write microcopy and UI text including error messages, tooltips, empty states, and onboarding flows in Figma.
• Produce friction-reducing UI copy that minimizes the need for complex support documentation.
• Advocate for UX copy quality in design reviews, identifying issues with labels, flows, and user-facing language.

Contract Technical Writer & Content Strategist #1151

About the Role

Decisiv is seeking a 1099 Content Strategy & Technical Writing Contractor to support documentation, UX copy, and in‑app content for our SRM platform. The contractor will audit our brand voice and content landscape, develop content standards and strategy, and produce help center articles, microcopy, and in‑app guidance across Zendesk, Figma, and Pendo.

This engagement includes collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams to gather context and align deliverables with product releases, while maintaining full autonomy over how work is completed. Tools you may interface with include Slack, GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Figma, Zendesk, and Pendo.

Scope of Work & Deliverables

Technical Writing (approx. 50%)

• Write and maintain help center articles for new features in Zendesk using staging environments and collaborating with product owners, designers, and developers as needed.
• Produce release announcements and in‑app messaging that translate technical changes into clear, user‑ready language.
• Anticipate documentation needs by reviewing sprint plans, grooming notes, and product updates.
• Maintain and improve existing documentation by reducing redundancy, improving structure, and retiring outdated content.
• Create and manage Pendo in‑app guides, tooltips, and walkthroughs that complement help center content.

Content Strategy (approx. 30%)

• Audit existing brand voice and content across product and help center, identifying gaps and presenting recommendations.
• Translate brand voice into tone guidelines, UX writing standards, and documentation style guides.
• Define and evolve content architecture aligned with user needs and product organization.
• Build a content roadmap tied to the product roadmap and sprint cycles.

Required Qualifications

Engagement Structure

This is a 1099 contractor engagement. The contractor will:

• Deliver work based on milestones, deadlines, and agreed‑upon scope.
• Collaborate with Decisiv teams as needed to complete deliverables.
• Use their own equipment, tools, and methods to produce work.

This role is structured as an independent contractor (1099) engagement and is not an offer of employment. Individuals engaged in this role will operate as independent contractors and are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, equipment, and business expenses. Contractors are not eligible for company benefits, do not accrue paid time off, and maintain full control over how and when the contracted work is completed, consistent with agreed‑upon deliverables and deadlines.
