Job summary

Motion Recruitment is supporting a global fintech client in San Diego, CA seeking a Technical Writer / Content Designer. You will partner with product managers, designers, and cross-functional teams to design and validate expert and customer-centered content, focusing on in-product How-To guides, SOPs, and escalation resources.

You will also gain hands-on experience with AI publishing tools and work in an Agile environment using Jira, WordPress, and Gutenberg to deliver clear, accessible

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in Technical Writing, Content Design, or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Experience with SOPs and How-To content.
• Experience with AI content tools for drafting and refinement.
• Familiarity with content platforms and publishing tools.

About the Role

As a Technical Writer / Content Designer on our team, you’ll partner with Product Managers, Designers, and cross‑functional teams to design and validate expert and customer‑centered content. Your work will focus on in‑product “How-To” guides, SOPs, and expert escalation resources, with occasional customer‑facing content. You’ll also get hands‑on experience with cutting‑edge AI publishing tools!

Responsibilities

• Design, edit, and validate Expert and Customer content for QuickBooks, including in‑product, self‑service, and support materials.
• Use AI‑powered and internal publishing tools to create and optimize high‑quality content.
• Collaborate with Content Leads to ensure clarity and accuracy.
• Ensure content adheres to accessibility, legal, and style standards.
• Improve content based on expert feedback, analytics, and best practices.
• Support “Run‑The‑Business” style operational work, including content audits, updates, sweeping, and editing.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in Technical Writing, Content Design, or related field.
• (If you hold a Bachelor's degree, 1-3 years of experience is acceptable. Without a degree, 5-10 years related experience required.)
• Background in content for accounting, SMB/finance, payroll, or technology products preferred.
• Strong preference for SOP and "How-To" guide experience, not marketing/blog content.
• Comfortable collaborating in Agile environments, using Jira for managing sprints.
• Familiarity with WordPress, Gutenberg, and working in dynamic content platforms.
• Experience with AI content tools (e.g., Gemini, Claude, or similar) for drafting and refinement.
• Excellent teamwork, editing, organization, and communication skills.
• Ability to meet quality standards for customer‑facing and expert content.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
