The ability to meet across teams at the office and cross-pollinate information is critical to our success.Responsibilities:A Technical Writer researches, develops, and maintains clear, accurate technical documentation manuals, guides, and reports that translates complex products, systems, and processes for technical and non-technical audiences. They work with engineers, program managers, and subject matter experts to gather information and determine the right format for each audience. Their focus is producing polished, well-organized documentation that meets program requirements and supports user understanding.Duties:Writes and edits technical documents including reference manuals and product manuals.Writes and edits procedural documentation such as user guides and manuals.Determines the type of publication that will best serve the project requirements.Meets with engineers, programmers, and project managers to learn about specific products or processes.Research product samples to fully understand product.Assesses the audience needs for whom the technical and procedural documentation is intended; adjusts tone and technical terms used to meet those needs and to ensure understanding.Plans writing processes and sets timelines and deadlines.Creates or works with graphic designers to create diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to assist readers in understanding a product or process.Gathers feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers to improve technical documents.Performs other related duties as assigned.Other Duties:Duties, responsibilities, and activities can change at any time based on position requirements. All ISA employees are required to uphold and maintain the trustworthiness and suitability requirements of the U.S. federal government.Experience Required:Experience should include but is not limited to working knowledge of:7+ years writing and editing technical documentationExperience translating complex information for general audiencesSkilled at gathering input from subject matter expertsProficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe AcrobatExperience creating or coordinating diagrams and visual aidsComfortable managing multiple documentation projects simultaneouslyStrong understanding of document formatting and style standardsExperience incorporating stakeholder feedback into revisionsFamiliarity with version control and document tracking processesPrior experience supporting DoD or IC programs preferredBachelor's degree in English, Communications, or related fieldAbility to meet deadlines in fast-paced environmentsStrong attention to detail and technical accuracyExperience writing for both technical and non-technical readersEducation:Bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management, or any other related field (Required). A master’s degree in a related field is preferred.For senior levels, certification (e.g., PMP) and relevant experience in a managerial position is an added advantage.Certification:None required.
