Summary
The Technical Welding Instructor is responsible for educating and training a variety of customers who support the welding industry including salespersons, quality control personnel, supervisors, engineers, welders and support staff. Topics include welding safety, metallurgy, arc welding inspection, nondestructive and destructive testing, common arc welding processes, welding economics, and preparation for the AWS CWI Certified Welding Inspector Examination.
- Responsible for classroom instruction of welding and welding related subjects as outlined in the various course descriptions, as well as manipulative skill instruction as needed, using common arc welding processes
- Prepare course materials, classrooms, and laboratories for courses
- Work independently and collaborate with peers to revise and develop courses
- Field emails and phone calls made to the department regarding technical courses, training, and registration
- Conduct in-plant and specialized training as assigned
- Represent HIWT at trade shows as required
- Maintain impeccable housekeeping of labs, classrooms and workspace
- Perform demonstrations for destructive and nondestructive testing
- Ability to work second shift based on business needs
- Perform other duties as required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis
- Regular talking and hearing
- Able to meet Jaeger 2 visual acuity
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- 7+ years welding related experience
- High School Diploma, post-secondary education is a strong plus
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector Credential
- Blueprint Reading, Fabricating, and Inspection
- Ability to use MS Office (Power Point, Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet Based Applications
Desired Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- AWS CWE Certified Welding Educator
- AWS CWS Certified Welding Supervisor
- ASNT Level III VT, MT, PT, UT, RT preferred
- AWS Standards and Specifications
- ISO Standards
- Destructive testing experience preferred
- HIWT Diploma preferred
TRAVEL: Local and Overnight Travel as required at management request (30% - 40% possible).
