Southside Virginia Community College, a comprehensive community college, is seeking full-time 9-month faculty member for Welding on our Daniel Campus; Keysville,VA, service area. The successful candidate must be committed to our mission to provide quality education to a diverse constituency.
Responsibilities are but not limited to:
- Providing classroom and hands-on lab instruction in welding for various ages including high school students enrolled through the dual enrollment program
- Preparing for class and scheduling 10 hours of scheduled office hours outside of class
- Faculty may be expected to teach in multiple instructional settings and at various times, including nights and weekends, to meet student needs
- Advising and mentoring students to support their academic success, skill development, and career readiness
- Overseeing lab maintenance and operation
- Maintaining equipment inventory
- Developing and evaluating instructional materials and learning outcomes to continually improve the educational experience for students
- Communicating effectively with students and staff
- Creating engaging lessons with technology and interactive materials to enhance classroom learning
- Participating in college committees, meetings and workshops
- Collaborating with colleagues within the same discipline to coordinate class schedules
- Representing the welding program at recruitment events to encourage community interest and student enrollment
- Supporting institutional advancement by strengthening and expanding the welding program
- Maintaining active communication with a well-rounded advisory committee to remain informed about current trends and developments in the welding industry
