Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine invites applications for a Technical Theater Instructor to plan, organize, and deliver skill development programs for ages 10-18 in set, lighting, and stage crew.

You will guide students in production skills, support Mainstage shows, maintain classroom safety, and ensure timely communication with participants and parents while upholding YMCA policies.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 5 years advanced experience in specialized skill.
• Minimum of 4 years teaching specialized skill.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and lead activities for all participants.
• Lead with enthusiasm and motivation in program.
• Organize and maintain attendance rosters and records.
• Manage all equipment.
• Maintain a clean and risk-free environment.
• Communicate with participants and parents.
• Ensure all children are picked up by a parent.
• Promote other YMCA programs by sharing information or referrals.
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures.

To plan, organize, and deliver value-driven skill development programs to participants in accordance with YMCA goals and objectives. Technical Theater Instructor leads classes for ages 10-18 in set, lighting, sound, costumes, makeup, and stage crew. Guides students in production skills, supports Mainstage shows, and provides safe, organized classroom and theater supervision.

What You’ll Do

• Plans, organizes and leads specific activities, routines and/or games for all participants.
• Leads with enthusiasm and positive motivation in program.
• Organizes and maintains program records including, but not limited to: attendance records, rosters, etc.
• Manages all equipment.
• Maintains a clean and risk-free environment.
• Communicates effectively and timely with program participants and parents.
• Ensures all children are picked up by a parent.
• Promotes other YMCA programs by handing out brochures, answering questions, or referral to appropriate person.
• Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What You’ll Need

• 18 years of age with high school diploma or GED
• Minimum of 5 years of advanced experience in specialized skill
• Minimum of 4 years teaching specialized skill.
• Training and qualifications in the specialized instruction area
• Demonstrate advance knowledge of specialized skill
• Ability to effectively use technology for programmatic needs
• Obtain and maintain all new hires certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
