We are hiring a Technical Team Lead for a 12-month contract position based in Houston, Texas. This is a hands‑on technical management role combining approximately 60% direct development work and 40% team leadership. You will lead a software development team building and maintaining internal platforms for crane dispatch, asset management, field service, and pricing, along with integrations connecting these systems to Dynamics 365, Salesforce, and other enterprise platforms. You will report to the Director of Engineering, partner with the Principal Engineer on architecture and technical direction, and own sprint execution, code quality, testing, releases, and the team's day‑to‑day delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of software developers, setting daily priorities, unblocking work, and maintaining consistent standards for code quality, testing, and documentation.
- Run Agile sprints end to end: planning, standups, reviews, and retrospectives; keep the backlog groomed and sprint commitments realistic.
- Write user stories and technical tasks in Azure DevOps based on discovery sessions with stakeholders.
- Partner with the Principal Architect on architecture decisions and technical standards; translate those decisions into executable work for the team.
- Remain hands‑on: build features, review code, and step in for critical fixes.
- Harden reliability and release discipline on critical internal platforms under operational load, reducing production risk and knowledge silos.
- Use AI‑assisted development tools in delivery and establish team standards for review and testing of AI‑generated code.
- Ensure work is tested before release, with unit, integration, and regression coverage matched to the risk of each change.
- Serve as technical point of contact for stakeholders on the team's work.
- Triage incoming requests to determine whether an issue is a defect or a feature request and route it appropriately.
- Work across Engineering teams (including Salesforce and ERP) and with Infrastructure on changes spanning multiple systems.
- Explain technical tradeoffs, risks, and timelines to leadership in clear, plain language.
- Own CI/CD and release pipelines, including build, test, and deployment automation across environments.
- Run release management: planning, go/no‑go readiness, deployment, and rollback.
- Write and distribute release communications so stakeholders understand what changed, when, and the business impact.
- Monitor production health after releases and drive root‑cause fixes for recurring issues.
- Build and maintain integrations using Azure Logic Apps, Power Automate, and REST APIs across Dynamics 365, Salesforce, and third‑party systems in line with architecture standards.
- Oversee Azure‑hosted applications and services, including App Service and Functions, in coordination with the infrastructure team.
- Support Power Apps solutions as part of the broader Microsoft platform.
