Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in Hillsboro, Oregon is seeking a Technical Support Specialist II to install, maintain, and repair sophisticated equipment, collaborating with NPD, Applications and OE on new product developments. You will work with field service to diagnose issues, contribute to roadmaps, and strive to reduce mean time to repair while improving system reliability.

Applicants should have 2+ years with related tech or a Bachelor's in Applied Physics/Electronics, strong technical writing,

Qualifications

High school diploma with 2+ years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Physics, Electronics, or Electro-Mechanics.
Comfortable in working with analytical equipment.
Multidisciplinary troubleshooting skills.
Experience with analytical equipment (electronics, software, physics, mechanics) such as Electron Microscopes, Wafer Steppers, Medical Equipment or related semiconductor equipment.
Preferably experience with LDB.

Responsibilities

Partner closely with the field service team to quickly diagnose and repair assigned product lines.
Develop technology roadmaps with Marketing, NPD, Applications and OE to sustain support through the life of the system.
Influence MTTR and MTBF by examining downtime and failures to improve overall performance.
Define and build work instructions for field service engineers on service tools, repair and installation, spares parts and diagnostics.
Provide feedback to product quality teams and initiate improvement projects on systems and subsystems.
Develop and validate sophisticated troubleshooting documentation and software.
