Job summary

ABB is seeking a Technical Sales Specialist for the East Region to manage and grow business opportunities in Continuous Gas Analyzer & CEMS. The ideal candidate will have a technical background, strong sales skills, and the ability to build relationships with customers. This remote position requires up to 50% domestic travel and a focus on meeting customer needs in a dynamic market.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in instrumentation as a customer, salesperson, technician, or project manager.
  • Strong understanding of Analytics including GC’s, FTIR, Tunable Diode Lasers, CGA, and CWA.
  • Ability to leverage existing industry relationships.

This position reports to

Sales Team Lead

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will be planning, presenting, and helping to manage new and current ABB Analytics opportunities for our Continuous Gas Analyzer & CEMS business in the US. The ideal candidate will be technically sound, experienced in CGA and CEMS, well-spoken, and driven to succeed in meeting and exceeding our customer’s needs.

The work model for the role is remote. Relocation assistance is not eligible for this position. We are unable to sponsor an employment visa at this time; candidates must already have a work authorization to work for ABB in the US.

This role contributes to the Process Automation Measurement & Analytics division. You will be mainly accountable for:

  1. Identifying potential projects and presenting ABB CGA and CEMS Solutions that fit our customers' needs. Drive and support Channel Partners, collaborate with sales teams, and directly grow our business.
  2. Growing ABB’s CGA & CEMS business aligned with our go-to-market strategy. Act as the front line for offering and executing ABB solutions, being technical, well-spoken, and driven.
  3. Monitoring market trends and recommending strategic adjustments to meet changing landscapes. Providing market insights for decision-making.
  4. Communicating the value proposition of Analytics internally and externally. Supporting local sales to enhance perception, and leading communication, promotion, and training activities.
  5. Achieving key targets (volume, price, mix) for Analytics in the East Region. Developing and executing detailed business plans with regular follow-up.
  6. Identifying and prioritizing major CGA & CEMS accounts, including account management in collaboration with regional and global teams.
  7. Building and maintaining strong relationships with key customers, ensuring ABB’s performance meets their needs, and communicating any deficiencies or opportunities.
  8. Collaborating with sales teams to identify and capture new business, driving end-user and third-party agreements, and helping negotiate complex legal and commercial agreements.
  9. Managing potential risks related to contracts and pricing across segments.
  10. Reporting by segment to track progress and using tools to identify future opportunities.

Qualifications for the role
  1. Associates Degree in technology with 5+ years’ experience in instrumentation, whether as a customer, salesperson, technician, or project manager.
  2. Strong understanding of Analytics including GC’s, FTIR, Tunable Diode Lasers, CGA, and CWA. Knowledge of instrumentation is a plus.
  3. Ability to leverage existing industry relationships to generate new opportunities.
  4. Skill in designing customer-specific solutions while promoting ABB products.
  5. Focus on end users—understanding their needs, goals, maintenance practices, and partnership opportunities.
  6. Ability to build relationships at all levels within ABB, channel partners, and end users.
  7. Up to 50% domestic travel; international travel once per year for training.
  8. Must have current work authorization for the US.
