Job summary

GITAI in Torrance, California, is seeking a technically discerning recruiter who can evaluate engineering portfolios, CAD, PCB work, and hardware artifacts to determine candidate fit, independent of resumes. This onsite role requires hands-on judgment, familiarity with ATS, and knowledge of U.S.

employment compliance, with a focus on California requirements. Occasional travel and strong communication in a fast-moving startup environment are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Robotics, or related field.
• At least 1 year of professional engineering or hands-on technical work in a hardware field.
• Exceptional technical judgment to evaluate engineering portfolios quickly.
• Strong depth in mechanical and/or electrical engineering.
• Knowledge of the engineering talent market and differentiators of top engineers.
• Independent judgment and ability to challenge hiring managers when needed.
• Experience with an applicant tracking system (ATS) to manage pipelines.
• Working knowledge of U.S. employment compliance, especially California rules.
• Strong communication skills for a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering portfolios and identify candidates for advancement.
• Assess what a candidate actually designed, built, tested, and owned.
• Distinguish genuine hands-on depth from polished presentation.
• Map candidate strengths to GITAI’s engineering roles.
• Provide independent screening decisions without excessive review requests.
• Balance engineering time by routing only strong candidates to technical assessment.
• Learn from engineers and hiring outcomes to improve judgment over time.
• Identify hard-to-find talent in the engineering market.
