Job summary

The D. E. Shaw Group is seeking a technical project manager to join the Human Capital Products team, leading a multi-year initiative to reimagine hiring—from sourcing through onboarding. You will partner with Recruiting, HC Generative AI, and software developers to deliver scalable, secure solutions.

You’ll apply Agile practices, manage scope and timelines, and communicate progress to leadership while navigating complex, data-driven environments that shape talent decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least eight years of technical project or program management experience with technology platforms or infrastructure.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, provide advisory support, and drive execution and results in complex environments.
• Proven project management skills, including experience managing large-scale, enterprise-wide initiatives with multiple stakeholder groups.
• Hands-on, pragmatic approach to execution; willingness to contribute directly; experience in chief-of-staff or operational roles is a plus.
• Curiosity about AI tools and an interest in experimenting with them; prior hands-on experience with AI is welcome but not required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for translating business needs into actionable plans and facilitating collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Drive alignment among stakeholders across the firm to develop and implement HC’s recruiting platform, processes, and related technology.
• Define and manage project scope and timelines, develop detailed project plans, and ensure alignment among cross-functional teams, leveraging AI tools to manage projects.
• Track progress against milestones, prepare project updates for leadership, ensure timely communication across teams, and proactively address risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks to keep initiatives on schedule.
• Help guide AI-enabled recruiting tools from roadmap to adoption, working closely with end users to pilot, refine, and scale new solutions across the hiring process.
• Apply agile project management techniques to adapt to evolving priorities, resolve ambiguity, and drive projects to successful completion.
• Partner with HC Products leadership on chief-of-staff work, such as running planning cycles, managing operating rhythms, and improving workflows.
