Job description

OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager (Data & Insights) with a strong background in enterprise data platforms, data engineering, and business intelligence to support the operational rigor and execution discipline of a client's Data & Insights organization. The successful candidate will own the end-to-end Book of Work and portfolio for the Data & Insights team, partnering closely with executive stakeholders across Go-To-Market, Product & Engineering, Finance, People/HR, and Security to align data initiatives with core business outcomes.

This role is ideal for an operations-minded builder who thrives on transforming Ways of Working into a predictable, efficient execution engine, and who is comfortable bringing structure to complex, cross-functional technical programs within a fast-paced enterprise environment.

Location: San Francisco, CA - Remote possible
Contract Length: Until April, 2027

RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee and centralize the end-to-end Book of Work and portfolio for the Data & Insights team, ensuring full transparency across active, queued, and strategic initiatives.

Partner with stakeholders across Data & Insights and internal business teams to capture demand, align cross-functional dependencies, and connect data initiatives directly to business outcomes.

Bring rigor and structure to the team's Ways of Working, standardizing Agile, Scrum, and Kanban practices tailored to data engineering, analytics, and business intelligence lifecycles.

Work closely with Enterprise Technology Operations leadership and peer program managers to institute consistent governance, intake frameworks, and delivery discipline.

Drive end-to-end execution of high-visibility data programs, including enterprise data pipeline migrations and data governance initiatives.

Facilitate core operational cadences and ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, standups, retrospectives, and QBR preparation, to remove friction and accelerate delivery velocity.

Serve as a trusted advisor and connective tissue between technical data leads, Enterprise Technology, and business partners across the enterprise.

Build and maintain structured communication channels, knowledge hubs, and executive dashboards to provide clear visibility into team throughput, delivery performance, and portfolio health.

QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager or Program Manager driving complex technology and data initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

  • Solid data domain context, with familiarity in data platform concepts, ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehousing, BI/analytics tooling, AI data foundations, and data governance.
  • Mastery of Agile, Scrum, and Kanban delivery methodologies, with a proven ability to apply structure and operational rigor to technical workflows.
  • Strong systems thinking and operational drive, with a track record of partnering with operations leadership to build structured execution models, streamline workflows, and elevate delivery quality.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with a proven ability to align cross-functional business partners and technical leads around shared priorities.
  • A builder and team-multiplier mindset, with a passion for creating scalable processes that enable teams without introducing unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Ability to bring clarity to complex, ambiguous situations by prioritizing effectively and distilling technical data into clear strategic narratives for executive leadership.
Preferred
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Direct experience supporting cross-functional technology programs within data, engineering, internal systems, or enterprise technology teams.
  • Experience with operational and delivery tooling such as Jira, Confluence, Atlassian Projects, or reporting tools like Tableau or eazyBI.
  • Proven experience leading technical teams through operational transformations, adopting agile delivery, or standardizing portfolio demand intake.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, PMI-ACP, or Scrum certifications.
Education
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
